This Week - 2nd February
Friday 22nd May (it's a bit late I know - took longer than I expected...)
Ronde
- Work slowly and practice it bit by bit.
- Learn the rhythms first.
- Practice the tricky bits
- Follow the tutorial video. Keep pausing to practice, don't try to do it all at once!
- Can you play it all the way through without the letters?
- When you can play it slowly and neatly, start speeding up!
- Record yourself in BandLab - more information here.

Pass the Peas
Hey Bobby, why do you like soul food?
Because it makes me ha-a-a-py
Pass the peas, the cheese
Pass the peas like we used to say it
Pass the peas like we used to say it
Pass the peas like we used to say it
Our Version
There are three trumpet parts and one trombone part.
All the parts have the same rhythm and there are only three bits to learn.
Trumpets:
- Part 1 goes up to high E
- Part 2 goes up to B
- Part 3 only goes up to a G
Choose whichever one suits you best at the moment.
Trombones: you have your own part, but it's fine to play one of the trumpet parts if you prefer.
Rhythms
The rhythms in this piece are hard to read, but not so hard to play.
For now it's fine to learn them just by listening - 'by ear'.
To give you some idea, I've written the pulse with the crosses and sticks going down on the bottom line and the rhythm you play on the top line. See if you can tap the pulse with your foot and clap the rhythms along with the videos.
